Alternative Giving - Rethink Christmas

Join us in prayer

Making Missions Work - Update

Last month, Dr. Robert Lupton spoke at First Presbyterian Church of Nashville about the harm we can do unknowingly through charity work. As it is a provocative subject for churches, we knew there would be an audience. However, we had no idea that there would be a total of 2,183 viewers nationally "attending"  the live stream.

Were you there? We would love to hear your thoughts about it - email and let us know how it has challenged your Christian worldview towards international compassion efforts.

Would you like to watch Dr. Lupton's presentation? (His slides will also be available to download at this link under Resources.)

At MBF we have a way for you to give gifts that make a lasting difference for people living in desperate conditions. We call it Alternative Giving, and in it holds the power to literally transform circumstances and empower those bound by poverty to learn how to break its chains.

The fact is that consumerism fights for our attention every day, and it is at its strongest during the holidays. But does it have to be? What would it look like if we changed how we looked at Christmas?

Instead of putting another "unwanted" sweater in someone's hands, what if you were able to send a young girl to nursing school, helping her provide for her family and save lives in her community?

Join us this Christmas. Honor someone special in memory, or out of gratitude for what God has done in your own life. We we will send your recipient a card notifying them of how they showed God's love to another in great need.

Our 2018 Alternative Giving Catalog is ready for the Christmas season. Click the picture to make a difference with your Christmas list.

We are so thankful that we are able to come before God with our petitions, and also our praises. He is an amazing Father who has never let us down, left us alone or shamed us. He is constantly working in the foreground and background of what we are seeing as we participate with Him in mission. Thank you Father for what you have placed in our hands and where you are moving our feet. Thank you that we continue to see fruit as we walk through the doors you have opened for us. All glory is yours.

While forms of violence and uncertainty are found everywhere, it can be more acutely felt in developing countries. As we walk the mission of sustainable health care out, our partners need peace in times of chaos. Please pray that God would calm their fears and quiet their spirits so that they are able to draw closer to Him and see the mission He sets before them.

Pray that as Dr. Lupton's stirring words continue to reach the ears of churches, God will speak amidst the challenges and the encouragement to create action, bringing stability to those we serve with. Thanks for joining us in prayer.

Please let us know how we can pray for you. We would love to stand with you in solidarity as you seek God in your life and ministry. To leave a request please email us at
